What Haivian can audit. A defined mathematical, scientific or AI-assisted claim whose validation plan depends on quantum algorithms, simulations, existing provider job records or, where genuinely necessary and available, newly commissioned QPU execution.
Important access boundary. Haivian does not represent live QPU execution as an included, always-on capability. New provider-backed execution is separately scoped and proceeds only when an appropriate access path is commissioned, the provider and backend are available, and the customer approves the workload estimate and cost ceiling.
Proof, simulation and hardware are different evidence
Formal proof tests whether a conclusion follows from declared assumptions. Classical simulation tests an ideal or noise model for a tractable workload. Empirical QPU execution records samples from a named physical backend under particular compilation, calibration and noise conditions. A defensible audit identifies which conclusion comes from which evidence.
What the audit record can examine
- Exact manuscript, repository, circuit or optimization-problem identity
- Provider, backend, job identifiers and execution timing
- Compiler or transpiler version, parameters, seeds, native gates and layout
- Circuit count, width, depth, shots, repeats and queue or priority assumptions
- Available calibration, noise and device-property context
- Raw counts or samples, filtering, mitigation and post-processing
- Exact or noisy simulator comparisons and strong classical baselines
- Statistical uncertainty, drift, reproducibility limits and adverse evidence
- Claim-to-evidence correspondence: what the result does and does not establish
When new hardware execution is justified
QPU execution is justified when physical-backend behaviour is load-bearing and proof, inspection, simulation or existing job evidence cannot settle the remaining question. It is not justified merely because the paper uses quantum terminology or because a hardware run would look persuasive.

Base audit fee and separately controlled compute
The initial Research Audit is US$1,499. Provider-backed QPU usage, extensive simulator time, specialist work and material scope changes are additional. Before any provider spend, Haivian records the proposed backend, workload, shots, repetitions, mitigation, classical controls, estimate assumptions and a customer-approved maximum cost.
No estimate is treated as authority to overspend. Unknown, stale or materially changed cost pauses execution for a new decision. See what a third-party quantum-computing audit costs.
What the outcome can say
The report can find the claim supported within scope, supported with qualifications, contradicted, inconclusive or revision-required. It can also conclude that no defensible hardware target has yet been established. Payment funds the method and report; it never purchases a favourable finding, quantum advantage or publication.
